A safe passage out of Afghanistan for LGBT+ people

Help fund safe passage out of Afghanistan for LGBT+ people facing the most extreme risk!

Guaranteed safe and secure checkout

Since the Taliban takeover in August 2021, queer Afghans have faced forced disappearance, arbitrary detention, sexual assault, sexual abuse, torture, stoning, and fear.

With support from All Out members, our partners at ILGA Asia have organized safe passage out of Afghanistan for some of those facing the most extreme risk.

But so many more LGBT+ people need help to escape and to find refuge in another country. The powerful earthquakes that have hit Afghanistan this year, killing thousands of people, have only made the situation on the ground more perilous.

That’s why we’re working with ILGA Asia to get urgently needed aid into Afghanistan, as well as getting more of the people who are most at risk out.

We can't do this without your help. Donate today to help LGBT+ people leave Afghanistan.

What do LGBT+ survivors say?

“Before I fled from Afghanistan, thanks to the generosity of All Out members and the support of ILGA Asia, I was on the run every day. After all, had I been arrested, nothing but stoning and death would have been there for me. I also was in dire financial need – no money meant no food or escape. And these days, the situation is getting worse and worse for LGBT+ people still in Afghanistan.”

Edited quote from a gay survivor.

“After I came out to one person in my family, I had the worst seven years of my life – no period in my life compares to those dark seven years. I lost my family’s financial and mental support. I lost my job after the Taliban took over. It was miserable. But this is so much more than my individual story. I managed to flee Afghanistan, thanks to the generosity of All Out members and the support of ILGA Asia, but there are still many people who need to leave for safety.”

“I worked in the entertainment industry and I was well known in my city. However, when the Taliban took control, my girlfriend and I lost everything. They were looking for us everywhere and we thought it was all over. But thanks to the generosity of All Out members and the support of ILGA Asia, my girlfriend and I managed to flee Afghanistan. Please, don’t forget our LGBT+ family that is still in danger and waiting for hope."
